Key Takeaways on Eliminating Limiting Beliefs

  • The Roots of Self-Talk: Negative self-talk, stems from deep-seated beliefs, often formed in childhood, that color our view of ourselves and the world.

  • The Power of Belief Elimination: Identifying and dismantling, limiting beliefs, can significantly change behavior patterns and emotional responses, leading to profound transformation.

  • Event Interpretation's Illusion: An event by itself holds no inherent meaning; the meaning we apply is a subjective interpretation often driven by underlying beliefs.

The Genesis of Negative Self-Talk

Negative self-talk, is the internalized voice that criticizes and undermines our actions and choices. According to Shelly Lefkoe, this self-sabotaging dialogue originates from our, limiting beliefs—statements about reality we consider the absolute truth. These beliefs usually develop during childhood as we interact with our environment and authority figures.

“So we always say it isn't what happens to you that screws you up, it's what you conclude about it.”

Lefkoe suggests that even minor comments or actions by parents can shape significant beliefs about one's self-worth and capability. A parent’s disapproval or inability to provide affection might lead a child to believe they are not good enough or not lovable, thereby setting the stage for a lifetime of, negative self-talk, based on these erroneous self-conceptions.

What becomes evident is the profound impact of seemingly trivial moments early in life which necessitate a shift in how parents approach their interactions with their children. Patterns observed in adults can often be traced back to these primal beliefs solidified in the subconscious of the young.

Eradicating Limiting Beliefs

Shelly Lefko's Lefkoe Method aims to dismantle destructive beliefs by tracing them back to their source. This involves exploring various possible interpretations of past events rather than sticking with the initial negative conclusion we might have drawn.

“Anything you can see has a color, shape, and location. You cannot see ‘I'm not good enough'. You can see your father saying, ‘you're stupid'… I made that up.”

With guidance, individuals can understand that what they believed to be hardwired truths about themselves were actually malleable opinions. By exposing the baselessness of such beliefs, people can rid themselves of the, negative self-talk, that stems from them.

Lefkoe's assertion that beliefs cemented in childhood do not necessarily reflect current reality encourages individuals to reassess and redefine their self-identity. It brings hope and empowerment to those who may feel shackled by their past experiences and perceived deficiencies. The Lefkoe Method thus provides a means to reclaim one's life narrative and author a more fulfilling future.

Beyond Interpretation: Embracing Objectivity

A critical aspect of transforming self-talk is understanding the nature of events and their lack of inherent meaning. Lefkoe emphasizes that the narratives we construct around incidents are purely our fabrications and that events by themselves are meaningless.

“If meaning is inside your head, do events have inherent meaning?”

By asking this question, Lefkoe compels us to realize that our emotional responses and subsequent, negative self-talk, are products of the meanings we attribute to events rather than the events per se. A paradigm shift occurs when one grasps that the ability to control one’s emotional responses lies in controlling the interpretations we make, thereby not allowing them to influence our self-perception negatively.

This knowledge can revolutionize relationships and self-belief as it dissociates one's intrinsic value from the actions of others or external circumstances. Internalizing the concept that meaning is a construct can lead to a remarkable decrease in negative self-talk and enhance one's emotional well-being.

Synthesizing the conversation with Shelly Lefkoe reveals that the journey of personal growth hinges on recognizing, challenging, and rectifying the foundational beliefs shaping our self-talk and behaviors. By confronting the roots of, negative self-talk, and, limiting beliefs, individuals can disarm the ties to past inconsistencies and re-affirm their self-worth devoid of fictitious constraints.

You are capable: Replace Self-Doubt with Self-Confidence

The human mind is a powerful tool capable of incredible feats when harnessed correctly. However, many of us underestimate our own abilities, allowing self-doubt and fear to hold us back. It's time to challenge those limited beliefs and transform your mindset. You can achieve more than you ever thought possible. Be confident because, you are capable.

As Coach Myrna shares, “The Bible says that the Lord has equipped us with everything we need to do what we're here to do on this Earth.” We are preloaded with the necessary energy, personality, and intelligence. We just need to tap into our capabilities and believe in ourselves. Replace self-doubt with self-confidence and watch how your mindset transforms.

You are capable: Do it until you achieve perfection

I was listening to an interview a few weeks back with John Lee Dumas the host of Entrepreneurs on Fire and he said that he decided to host a podcast for entrepreneurs every single day because he was a new entrepreneur and when he looked at podcasting there was none in that space.  He didn't know anything about podcasting, he didn't know anything about interviewing,  but he decided that he was going to get on the mic every single day and talk about entrepreneurship.

He said that it took him over 400 episodes until he started to do better interviews, but you know what at the 200 episode when he looked at it and said. I'm not terribly good.  Did he stop?  No because practice makes perfect.  YOu are capable of doing anything,  even if you don't do it well at first.  Statistics show that you need 10,000 hours of practice to become perfect in anything.  You need to do it until you achieve perfection, because practice makes perfect.

Embrace a Growth Mindset

Psychologist Carol Dweck popularized the concept of a growth mindset. It is the belief that abilities and intelligence can be developed through dedication and hard work. Instead of thinking that something is hard and you can't do it, be willing to learn as you go and do what is necessary to succeed.

Coach Myrna shares her personal journey of going from selling office supplies to becoming a life coach, author, and podcaster. She never doubted her capabilities. She believed she was preloaded with everything she needed and that everything else could be learned. Success is formed through practice and perseverance. Embrace a growth mindset and be open to learning and growing.

You are capable: Challenge Your Limited Beliefs

Our beliefs shape how we show up in the world. Sometimes, we need to rewrite the script and challenge our limiting beliefs. We all have beliefs about ourselves and our capabilities that may not serve us well. These limited beliefs often stem from past experiences, societal expectations, or negative self-talk.

Coach Myrna encourages us to identify these beliefs and challenge them. Are they based on facts or simply assumptions we've accepted over time? Replace them with empowering beliefs that align with your goals and aspirations.

As the scripture says, “I can do all things through God who strengthens me.”

Challenge your limited beliefs and unlock your full potential.

Cultivate Resilience

Resilience is the ability to bounce back from setbacks and adapt to change. Building resilience requires facing challenges head-on, learning from failures, and maintaining a positive outlook. Setbacks are not failures but valuable lessons that can help you grow stronger and wiser.

Coach Myrna reminds us to cultivate resilience and view setbacks as opportunities for growth. By developing resilience, you can approach challenges with greater confidence and bounce back stronger than ever. Remember, practice makes perfect, and resilience is a key ingredient in achieving greatness.

You are capable: Surround Yourself with Positivity

The company you keep plays a significant role in shaping your mindset. Surround yourself with supportive, positive people who believe in your abilities and encourage you to pursue your dreams. Their optimism and encouragement can be a powerful source of motivation and inspiration.

Coach Myrna shares the story of Pastor Jamal Bryant, who was encouraged by a senior pastor who told him, “You are capable.” This simple statement transformed his mindset and gave him the motivation to continue his work. Surrounding yourself with positivity can have a profound impact on your mindset and belief in your capabilities.

Practice Self-Compassion

Be kind to yourself and acknowledge your efforts and achievements, no matter how small. Forgive yourself for any mistakes or shortcomings. Remember, nobody is perfect except Jesus. Practicing self-compassion fosters a healthier mindset, boosts self-esteem, and enables you to approach challenges with greater confidence and resilience.

Coach Myrna emphasizes the importance of self-compassion. By being kind to yourself and acknowledging your efforts, you create a positive and nurturing environment for personal growth. Treat yourself with the same compassion and understanding you would offer to a friend. Practice self-compassion and watch how it transforms your mindset.

Conclusion

Transforming your mind begins with believing in your capabilities and embracing a growth mindset. Challenge your limited beliefs, set realistic goals, cultivate resilience, surround yourself with positivity, and practice self-compassion. By doing so, you unlock your full potential and achieve greatness beyond your wildest dreams.

Remember, you are capable, of amazing things. All you have to do is believe in yourself and tap into the preloaded capabilities within you. Transform your mind and watch how it transforms your life. Key Takeaways:

  • Personal loss can be a catalyst for profound spiritual awakening and inner transformation called, the shift.

  • Surrendering to life's uncertainties allows for a smoother transition into new shifts of existence.

  • Meditation, especially, transcendental meditation, can be a powerful tool for connecting with one's soul and higher consciousness.

The Shift: Embarking on a Journey of Transformation

Life has an undeniable way of propelling us into periods of deep introspection, especially following significant personal loss called, the shift.  Valerie's own narrative is a testament to the potential for radical transformation that can emerge from such depths of despair. Having battled depression and suicidal ideation after the passing of her mother, Valerie's turning point was a meditation session that introduced her to an internal haven of peace, drastically altering her, state of consciousness.

“I went so far, so deep into my soul, into my own being, I didn't even know that place existed,” Valerie reflects, describing her transcendental experience. Her story underpins the idea that within our darkest moments lie the seeds of our most profound growth. It is not merely about recovering from grief but about uncovering an extraordinary layer of our existence that is often untouched until we are stripped bare by life’s hardships and shifts.

The Power of Surrender and Acceptance

Key to Valerie’s transformation, and a potent lesson resonant throughout the conversation, is the concept of surrender—to,  life's shifts,  unpredictability and to the divine flow. She acknowledges that, deep shifts, are tailor-made experiences that often involve aspects of life to which we are greatly attached, like finances, relationships, or health. These experiences break us open, compelling us to embrace change and surrender control.

Valerie posits, “…you understand the deep questions that people ask themselves. And it's kind of spontaneous. And… that helped me a lot come to terms with her death.” This profound understanding that one reaches after facing a, deep shift, is that it's an opportunity to reframe life from a place of acceptance. The shift,  is where we find  fulfillment and freedom from existential anxieties. By letting go of the illusion of control and embracing the greater, unseen divinity of life's course, we become ‘natural shifters' who can gracefully handle life's upheavals and shifts.

The Shift Movie  What is The Shift?

The first shift that we all make takes us from nonbeing to being; from Spirit to form; from the invisible to our corporeal world of things.

The next shift is the phase I call Ambition where we take on an ego self that is the opposite of the place of Spirit from which we came. Ego in this context is our false self.

These first two shifts are mandatory in the human journey.

Unfortunately, for many people, Ambition is often the end of their life story, but there are two more shifts open to us!

We can all choose to make the leap past the second shift of ego-driven ambition. We arrive at the third shift when we realize that we have an option to make a U-turn away from the false self. We can do an about-face and head back to the place of Spirit in a third shift.

And then, in the fourth shift, we achieve a life of Meaning and purpose by rededicating our Ambition to the fulfillment of our authentic self. We discover that the laws of the material world do not necessarily apply in the presence of the Meaning that is encouraged by our shift to Source. Manifestations of miracles begin to populate the landscape of life.

Meaning is now what defines all the moments of our existence. We can fulfill our greatest calling when we consciously undertake the journey from Ambition to Meaning. We can transform our individual lives and influence the destiny of our sacred planet as well

Palliative Care: Reducing Suffering for Patients and Families

Palliative care, is a specialized field of medicine that focuses on providing symptom-focused care for individuals with serious illnesses and their families. Contrary to popular belief, palliative care, is not limited to end-of-life care or hospice. It is a holistic approach that aims to reduce suffering by addressing physical, emotional, and spiritual needs.

Dr. Delia Chiaramonte, a board-certified physician specializing in family medicine, palliative medicine, and integrative holistic medicine, emphasizes the importance of understanding what palliative care truly entails. She explains that, palliative care, is appropriate for anyone with a serious illness, even if they are still seeking a cure. The focus is on reducing suffering, managing symptoms, providing coping strategies, and assisting with medical decision-making.

Palliative Care Myths Debunked

Myth 1: Palliative Care is Only for End-of-Life Care

One of the most common misconceptions about, palliative care, is that it is synonymous with end-of-life care or hospice. This misunderstanding often leads to delayed or inadequate support for patients and their families. This care, can be beneficial at any stage of a serious illness, including when curative treatments are still being pursued.

Dr. Chiarmonte emphasizes the importance of seeking palliative care early, especially when patients are experiencing symptoms that impact their quality of life. The care team can help manage pain, nausea, anxiety, and other distressing symptoms, allowing patients to focus on their overall well-being.

Myth 2: Palliative Care Means Stopping Treatment

Another common myth is that seeking, palliative care, means giving up on curative treatments. However, this can be provided alongside curative treatments. It is not about stopping treatment but rather about enhancing the patient's overall care and well-being.

Dr. Chiarmonte explains that, palliative care doctors, work as part of the care team, collaborating with other specialists to ensure the best possible outcomes for patients. They focus on reducing suffering and improving the patient's quality of life, whether curative treatments are ongoing or not.

Myth 3: Palliative Care is Limited to Medical Professionals

Many people believe that palliative care is solely the responsibility of medical professionals. However, palliative care is a team effort that includes not only doctors but also nurses, social workers, therapists, and even family members. The patient and their loved ones are considered part of the care team, and their input and involvement are crucial.

Dr. Chiaramonte emphasizes the importance of family involvement in palliative care. Family members play a vital role in providing support and care for their loved ones. Setting boundaries and seeking help when needed are essential for preventing caregiver burnout and ensuring the well-being of both the patient and the caregiver.

The Importance of Tough Conversations

One of the challenges faced by families dealing with serious illnesses is having tough conversations. Dr. Chiaramonte acknowledges that these conversations can be difficult but stresses the importance of open and honest communication.

She advises families to create a safe space for discussing the realities of the illness and the potential outcomes. It is essential to validate the patient's feelings and fears while also providing support and hope. By acknowledging the difficult emotions and discussing them openly, families can come together and make informed decisions about the patient's care.

Dr. Chiaramonte encourages families to pray for a cure while also preparing for the possibility that curative treatments may not be effective. Palliative care, can help manage symptoms and improve the patient's quality of life, allowing them to focus on what is most important to them, such as spending time with loved ones or engaging in meaningful activities.

By debunking common myths and misconceptions, Dr. Delia Chiaramonte highlights the importance of early and holistic support. Palliative care focuses on reducing suffering, managing symptoms, and providing emotional and spiritual support, regardless of the stage of the illness.

Understanding the role of care and seeking help early can significantly improve the well-being of both patients and their families. By walking alongside their loved ones on their journey, setting boundaries, and seeking support, caregivers can provide effective care without losing themselves in the process.

It is not about giving up; it is about enhancing the overall care and well-being of patients and their families. By embracing palliative care as part of the care team, families can navigate the challenges of serious illness with compassion, understanding, and hope.

How to Use CBD Oil as a Wellness Product

CBD, In the form of, CBD oil, pills, balms, are wellness products.  Federal advisers voted  to recommend approval of the first prescription cannabidiol, CBD,  medicine — to treat rare and severe forms of epilepsy.

The reason, CBD oil, works is our bodies have what is called an endocannabinoid system,  so this can basically be viewed as a lock-and-key system where we have receptors in our bodies that then attach to external receptors.

This system is responsible for contributing to our overall sleep and wake cycle, our mood, our appetite and can really be viewed as an important component in reaching homeostasis, of reaching a balance point in our body. CBD, from the cannabidiol plant helps us reach homeostasis.

I think that's a very important statement for right now and for the, cannabis, industry and the path that I ended up taking.

Starting a, Cannabis, Business

Not to say it hasn't been a difficult process because when we speak about, cannabis,  and we speak about, medical, marijuana, it's not the typical route of starting a business getting a bank account.  Certain things that would be viewed as very easy when starting a business is different when you're in the, cannabis, space.  So it's been quite the roller coaster; but I'm extremely thankful for all the experiences we've had as a company.

Myrna – I know, I live in Fort Myers, Florida and in the last election we voted on medical, Marijuana, for whatever reasons it didn't get enough votes; but sooner or later it will pass. Medical, marijuana, is already legal in some other places like you said Colorado.

What is, CBD, CBD oil, and CBD pills?

CBD, is a cannabinoid and, CBD, stands for is cannabidiol.  Cannabidiol is one cannabinoid out of over now eighty cannabinoids that have been identified in the, cannabis, plant.  Other widely known cannabinoid is tetrahydrocannabinol which is THC.

THC is the cannabinoid that is actually intoxicating; but now when we take a step back and we say okay so there's over 80 cannabinoids in the, cannabis, plant.  What we are learning now is we've recognized that all of these cannabinoids have therapeutic benefits and when you combine them certain cannabinoids have certain effects for certain areas.

Now, CBD, CBD oil, and CBD pills, specifically has become so popular because you can actually get, CBD, without any THC in the product.

The reason that, CBD, CBD oil, and, CBD pills, are being mass-produced right now is because the abundance of that cannabinoid.  CBD, in the, cannabis, plant is really high and it's a lot easier to extract from the plant than some of the other minor cannabinoids that would live in that other 80 plus cannabinoids.

If we said, cannabis, and I was looking at a tree a tree diagram, a top-down diagram. I would say, cannabis, live at the top and then below, cannabis, which is where we identify where which plant we're extracting it from would live hemp and, marijuana, hemp and, marijuana, are both of the genus, cannabis.

They are both, cannabis, but the way that they are differentiated is that the hemp plant is identified as having less than 0.3 percent THC; so it's very low in what we would call the intoxicating cannabinoid.

What is Hemp, CBD?

Hemp, CBD,  (Cannabis sativa L.) is a plant grown in the northern hemisphere, best known for its thin, somewhat spiky, green leaves (usually around seven that fan out around the end of each stem). It takes approximately three to four months to mature before harvesting. And it is a dioecious plant, which is a decidedly nerdy way of saying that there are both male and female hemp plants. And they need each other for the female to set seed.

Hemp, CBD,  has a wide variety of uses. You can use the whole plant, including the fiber (from its stems), protein (from its seeds), and oils and smokable portions (from the leaves and flowers). Smokable hemp is a new addition to the, CBD, industry, as the leaves and flowers of the hemp plant are rich in non-psychoactive cannabidiol, a compound which has many therapeutic properties.

Hemp, CBD,  seeds are small with a slightly sweet and nutty flavor and are technically nuts. While the terms are often used interchangeably, hemp “hearts” are hemp seeds that have had their shell removed, so they’re easier to consume. Hemp hearts are round and have a whitish-green hue with a black center.

Hemp, CBD,  is environmentally friendly, too. It grows in a variety of climates and types of soil, which is possible because of its hardiness. Hemp is resistant to drought and damage from UV rays, as well as most pests. It’s happy to grow tightly packed together, which allows it to shade out and out compete most weeds.

That means there’s no point in using chemical pesticides on most hemp crops. It’s also a natural substitute for cotton and wood fiber, both of which take a heavy toll on the environment. Hemp has a low lignin content, which allows it to be pulped using fewer chemicals than wood. And a fully mature hemp plant may contain half of its dry weight in seed, which is an impressively high yield.

Hemp, CBD,  as we as we know and have can see has actually been used for a wide array of purposes whether it be, clothing, biofuel actually food, we've all seen hemp seed oil or hemp hearts.  It has so many different purposes but now we've actually bred hemp to have high concentrations of, CBD oil, and very low concentrations of THC.

The hemp plant looks very similar to the, medical marijuana, plant to be able to extract the cannabinoids from it,  so then when we look at a, cannabis, plant we would see a plant that's shorter and has more flowers which are considered the buds.  That's where all the cannabinoids are coming from.

Are, CBD Pills, and, CBD Oils, a Wellness Product? What are the benefits?

Absolutely, CBD, CBD pills, and, CBD oils, are all wellness products.  The reason being is our bodies as humans, we have what is called an endocannabinoid system,  so this can basically be viewed as a lock-and-key system where we have receptors in our bodies that then attach to external receptors.

This system is actually responsible for contributing to our overall sleep and wake cycle, our mood, our appetite and can really be viewed as an important component in reaching homeostasis, of reaching a balance point in our body.  From a general health and wellness perspective,  a lot of people are starting to be see cannabinoids as a wellness product.  CBD pills, specifically are what would be called an adaptogen.

It can be used to reduce the body's stress response and come back to a place of calm.

CBD oil, has properties that are similar to anti-inflammatories, so that being the case anything that you really can talk about that might be caused from Inflammation.

How can we incorporate, CBD, into a healthy lifestyle?

We can incorporate, CBD pills, into our lifestyle and take them like we take our vitamins every day. The most convenient way is to use what we call a sublingual dropper or a tincture.  It comes in a bottle that has a dropper, you shake it up you take the dropper and fill it up with, CBD oil, you put it underneath your tongue and then you hold it for 30 to 60 seconds.  Within 10 to 15 maybe 20 minutes, you will feel the calming effects.

But now an even more concentrated way would be to use it in a capsule form called, CBD pills. If you take, CBD, in a capsule, CBD pills, you can actually get a lot higher concentration.  It goes through your stomach, it's processed and is delivered directly into your bloodstream.

We also have topical.  You also have to ensure when you're using a topical that it has the correct ingredients to also help with the absorption, so I would say always start with a tincture, then progress to the capsule, CBD pills,  and then use the topical for spot treatment.

The Plight of Women and Children in War Zones: A Global Crisis

The gut-wrenching reality of, war zones, is often masked by politics and distant news reports, but for Dr. Amani Ballour, a Syrian pediatrician and human rights activist, the horrors of conflict are part of her narrative. Her story embodies the resilience and courage required to confront the dire circumstances many civilians, particularly women and children, face in, war zones.

In this intimate dialogue, Dr. Ballour sheds light on the trials of managing an underground hospital amid bombings and shortages, during the, Syrian civil war, while also highlighting women's arduous journey towards professional recognition in conservative societies.

Key Takeaways

  • Dr. Amani Ballour's experience showcases the extreme conditions faced by civilians in war-torn Syria, underscoring the urgent need for worldwide action.

  • In her story, the inherent strength and capabilities of women emerge, going beyond traditional roles, especially in conflict zones and patriarchal societies.

  • Global awareness and active help from individuals and governments alike are pivotal in supporting the afflicted population in Syria and other, war zones, like the, Ukraine war, Iraq war and Gaza war.

Underground Hospital Horrors and Humanitarian Heroism in Syrian War Zones

Amid the relentless bombings in eastern Ghouta, Dr. Ballour managed ‘The Cave,‘ an underground hospital providing solace to the injured and the ill. The hospital's existence shone as a beacon of resilience, demonstrating the steadfast dedication of healthcare professionals who risked their lives in subterranean conditions. Despite the dire circumstances, Dr. Ballour and her team persevered, battling not just the shortage of medical supplies but also the psychological turmoil of witnessing children's sufferings first-hand.

“It's very hard to be always underground, to make a hospital underground, to work with the children in, war zones, while bombing, children starving, and everything was difficult,” Dr. Ballour recounts. This statement resonates with the unimaginable reality that healthcare workers in, war zones, face daily, defying the traditional settings and expectations of medical care.

Dr. Ballour's leadership was put to test not only by the war's havoc but also by the death of her colleagues, whose loss is still felt profoundly. The presence of such underground facilities evidences the calamities of warfare and the undeterred spirit of those who stand against it.

Women's Empowerment amidst Societal Constraints in War zones

The discussion sheds light on another battlefront — the struggle for gender equality. Dr. Ballour's journey to becoming a pediatrician, and more strikingly, a hospital manager, entails a defiance of socio-cultural norms that deem certain professional roles unsuitable for women.

“I heard some young people, educated people who say the same. And I remember a friend of mine,… said, we have no problem with you,… but we don't want a woman to be our manager,” she reveals, underscoring the entrenched patriarchal attitudes prevalent even among the educated youth.

This panorama of gender dynamics, especially in traditionally conservative areas, underscores the broader implications of women's struggle in the workforce. Dr. Ballour's determination and subsequent success narrate a powerful message for societal change, where a woman's competence should not be overshadowed by her gender.

Activism Through Storytelling and the Global Call to Action

Narratives like Dr. Ballour's are essential in transmitting the truths of wartime experiences to the world, painting a vivid picture beyond what meets the eye. Her book, alongside the 2019 Oscar-nominated documentary, “The Cave,” strives to be a clarion call for global awareness to catalyze action.

“But to see this happening again, it's really break my heart,” she expresses, indicating the recurring theme of civilian suffering in contemporary conflicts and driving home the critical need for continued advocacy and support.

Dr. Ballour's plea for assistance is not just a call for empathy but also a summons for action. Through donations, policy changes, and grassroots movements, every individual has the power to contribute to the alleviation of these crises — a sentiment that transcends geographical and cultural divides.

By reaching out to a global audience, Dr. Ballour reiterates the importance of solidarity and the potential impact collective efforts can make in war-torn regions, emphasizing that human value transcends boundaries and conflicts.

Unfolding the story of war's unseen casualties, we return to the fundamental understanding of shared humanity and the unyielding potential to uplift one another amidst adversity. The testament of Dr. Amani Ballour serves as a raw reminder that beyond statistical data, there exist individual lives, dreams, and a steadfast hope for peace and justice. Her narrative compels us to take a moment, reflect, and recognize the collective responsibility to nurture global well-being, transforming individual awareness into tangible support.

  • Subtly mirroring the body language and gestures of the person you're communicating with can create a sense of rapport and connection.

Nonverbal communication: Maintaining Eye Contact

Eye contact is a vital component of, nonverbal communication. It conveys interest, sincerity, and attentiveness. When speaking with someone, maintaining appropriate eye contact signals your engagement and openness to communication. While it may be more comfortable to look away, maintaining eye contact is essential for conveying interest and building connections. Just like in romance movies, eye contact can convey love and interest. So, make an effort to maintain eye contact and let your eyes do the talking.

Nonverbal Communication: Mirror and Match

Mirroring and matching is a technique used to create rapport and connection with others. By subtly mirroring the body language and gestures of the person you're communicating with, you can create a sense of similarity and understanding. However, it's important to be careful not to mimic too closely, as it may come across as insincere or mockery. Mirroring and matching can be particularly useful in sales or any situation where building rapport is important. By mirroring the other person's body language, you can establish a connection and make them feel more comfortable.

Nonverbal communication examples: Regulate Your Tone and Pitch

The tone and pitch of your voice play a significant role in how your message is received. Speaking clearly with a tone that matches the context of the conversation is crucial. A warm and friendly tone can foster trust and rapport, while a harsh or monotone voice can create tension. It's important to be mindful of your tone and pitch and adjust them accordingly. If you're speaking to someone with a soft-spoken demeanor, tone down your energy level to match theirs. Conversely, if you're speaking to someone with high energy, bring up your energy level to match theirs. By regulating your, tone and pitch, you can effectively convey your message and build stronger connections.

Nonverbal Communication: Facial Expressions

Facial expressions are a powerful form of nonverbal communication. They convey a wealth of emotions and intentions. A genuine smile can express warmth and approachability, while appropriate facial expressions can match the tone of the conversation. Smiling genuinely goes a long way in building connections and fostering trust. So, remember to smile genuinely and use appropriate facial expressions to convey your emotions and intentions.

Non verbal Communication: Respect Personal Space

Respecting personal boundaries is crucial in nonverbal communication. Invading someone's personal space can make them feel uncomfortable or threatened. It's important to maintain an appropriate distance to communicate respect and consideration. While personal space may vary depending on cultural norms and individual preferences, a general rule of thumb is to maintain at least an arm's length distance from someone you're not familiar with. Only get close to someone's face if you're about to kiss them. By respecting personal space, you can create a comfortable environment for communication and build better relationships.

Listen Attentively

Listening attentively is an essential aspect of nonverbal communication. Nonverbal cues can be valuable tools for active listening. Maintaining eye contact, using facial expressions to show understanding or empathy, and leaning in can signal to the speaker that you're fully engaged in the conversation. It's important to be present and actively listen to the person speaking. Even if you're not interjecting or responding, show your engagement through nonverbal cues such as nodding or saying phrases like “I understand.” By listening attentively, you can strengthen your connections and build better relationships.

Practice Empathy

Empathy is the ability to understand and share the feelings of others. By paying attention to nonverbal cues such as facial expressions and body language, you can better understand the emotions and perspectives of those around you. This fosters deeper connections and stronger relationships. When someone is sharing a sad story, show empathy by expressing your condolences or sadness. By practicing empathy, you can create a supportive and understanding environment for communication.

Seek Feedback

Seeking feedback from trusted friends, family members, or colleagues can provide valuable insights into your nonverbal communication. They can help you identify areas for improvement and make you more aware of your nonverbal cues. Women, in particular, may have unconscious nonverbal cues that they are not aware of, such as eye-rolling or sucking their teeth. By asking for feedback, you can become more conscious of your nonverbal communication and make necessary adjustments.

Be Authentic

Authenticity is key in nonverbal communication. Genuine gestures, expressions, and body language are more likely to foster trust and build meaningful relationships than forced or insincere behaviors. It's important to be true to yourself and let your nonverbal communication reflect your true emotions and intentions. By being authentic, you can create genuine connections and build stronger relationships.

In conclusion, mastering the art of nonverbal communication is essential for building better relationships in all aspects of life. By paying attention to your body language, facial expressions, tone of voice, and personal space, you can convey understanding, empathy, and sincerity. This applies to various settings, whether it's the boardroom, the bedroom, or even a podcast. Nonverbal communication, is a powerful tool that can greatly enhance our connections with others. So, watch your body language, be aware, and be conscious of the messages you're sending nonverbally. Remember, actions speak louder than words.

Optimizing Health After 40: Longevity Health Plan

What is the, longevity health plan? The journey through life’s decades brings about numerous changes, and for many, crossing the threshold of 40 is both a milestone and a wake-up call to reassess their health regimen. On the “Transform Your Mind to Transform Your Life” radio podcast, host Myrna Young engages in a thought-provoking dialogue with Dr. Anthony Balduzzi, founder and CEO of the Fit Father Project and Fit Mother Project. This candid conversation unveils critical insights into tailoring health and fitness strategies for those over 40, focusing on longevity and the desire to remain active for families.

The Role of Circadian Rhythms in Your Longevity health plan

Our bodies are intricately tuned to natural cycles, the most foundational of which is the circadian rhythm. Dr. Balduzzi explains the profound impact of sunlight in regulating essential hormones that dictate not only our sleep but our mood and physical health. Morning exposure to sunlight triggers serotonin release, enhancing mood and preparing the body for melatonin production at night, which aids sleep and cellular restoration.

As individuals over 40 face changes in sleep patterns, notably during menopause for women, understanding and respecting our hormonal cycles becomes even more critical. Exposure to bright screens in the evening can disrupt melatonin release, underscoring the need for practices such as limiting screen time and exploring supplemental aids like melatonin and magnesium for better sleep.

Additionally, embracing routines that sync with the sun's rise and set – getting morning light and dimming household lights in the evening – can help recalibrate our natural clock. For those without access to ample sunlight, alternative solutions like using seasonal light therapy lamps can provide similar benefits and a must in your, longevity health plan.

Nutrition and Exercise: Building Blocks for Longevity

The discussion shifts to nutrition and exercise, where Dr. Balduzzi breaks down a holistic approach to eating and working out for the 40-plus demographic. High-quality protein sources, healthy fats, and ample hydration are emphasized, with recommendations to veer away from high-carb diets and rather focus on life-giving “life foods”. For women, looking for a, longevity health plan, eating a high protein diets is especially crucial during menopause to maintain muscle mass and stabilize metabolic rates.

Strength training emerges as a non-negotiable component for both men and women in their, longevity health plan.  Echoing the sentiments found in Dr. Peter Attia's book “Outlive“, Dr. Balduzzi asserts that strength training not only conditions muscles but also activates, longevity genes, and improves metabolic and cognitive functions. Men, specifically, can benefit from strength training to help combat the natural decline of testosterone that bears significant influence on bone density, muscle mass, and overall vitality.

Mind, Body, and Spirit: A Triangular Approach to Aging

Lastly, the conversation touches the soul of why nurturing the mind, body, and spirit nexus is the ultimate key to thriving past 40. Dr. Balduzzi underlines the necessity of deep reflection on personal values and motivations, constructing a mission statement that connects health to life's bigger picture.

Whether it's safeguarding time with family or adhering to a faith-informed conviction to honor one's body as a temple, establishing the ‘why' behind health choices ensures sustainability. Programs like the Fit Father and Fit Mother empower individuals to form a supportive community, precisely tapping into group strength in their, longevity health plan. Echoed by Myrna’s personal insights, this underscores the fact that we don't merely seek to extend years in life, but to infuse life into those years in the company of loved ones.

The aphorism “health is wealth” takes on a profound hue when cast against the backdrop of legacy, companionship, and the sanctity of our fleeting human experience.

By aligning lifestyle choices with natural laws, empowering ourselves with knowledge, and fortifying our internal fuel through community and spiritual practices, transcending the age of 40 can be a rich passage. It’s about redefining the parameters of health through a wise and heart-centric lens, advocating a preventive stance against the ailments of age that may separate us too soon from those we cherish most.

Back in 2000 God spoke to me and told me to Go that the USA is my, promised land, my land of milk and honey that I should leave my home in Toronto, Canada, my family, friends and Go.

He told me to go and he will show me the way when I get there. So, I packed my bags and moved to Florida and God did as he promised. He showed me the way. He ordered my footsteps. I just followed my intuition and looked for guidance. God said if you GO, I will make you a great nation, and I will make your name great. Today my podcast and my name Coach Myrna, is great, it is heard in 156 countries around the world. Don't wait any longer, listen to this podcast  and find out how to find your, life purpose.

Synchronicity and purpose

The first thing I did when I got to Florida was to look for an office for my limousine service business. I found an office for my business, but it did not come with parking for a stretch limousine. I couldn’t find a place to park my limousine, so I had the brilliant idea to park it in a church parking lot. My reasoning was that church is only on a Sunday! they are not there during the week.

I promptly received a call from the Senior Pastor who told me if I wanted to park my limousine in the church parking lot, I should write a proposal of what I intended to offer in exchange. When I went to the church to drop off my proposal, I met the pastor who invited me to church.  That started my relationship with Living Word Fellowship church, a relationship that was instrumental in the success of both me and my daughter, who was 11 years old at the time. That was God showing me the way, that was synchronicity.

I just kept moving forward only seeing the next step and never the entire staircase.

My life purpose was to become a Life coach and reach the world

Then God told me Go become a Life coach, I listened and that was also God ordering my steps because the month I graduated from Life coach school with my coaching certificate, was the same month I got fired from my corporate job. I became a self-employed Life coach and again God showed me the way. Someone invited me to be a guest on a radio show, and the radio station WDJY 99.1 FM Atlanta, offered me my own show. Then I heard about podcasting and stared a podcast then I received an email invitation for a TV show on PTWWNTV.

None of this was shown to me when I packed up and left Toronto. God said GO and I went.

Each step along the way God tested me by seeing if I was willing to do the work, he had to see what I was willing to sacrifice. I had to go through the wilderness. God said before I give you a lot, I have to see what you do with a little.

Go: God will show you the way

I remember when I was so broke and had no money for food or gas. I had worked all week and didn’t make a sale, so I didn’t get paid. God said GO to the ATM. I didn’t think I had any money in the bank, but I went and found I had $40 in my account. Don’t even know where it came from. I was ecstatic.

My life continued to be filled with favor and synchronicity.

I shared my story to encourage you to Go: God will show you the way. Pick up a copy of my book Out of the Snares a story of hope and encouragement and see how God showed me the way.

I believe that I was born to bring light to others, that’s my Life purpose

What’s your purpose?

We see things not as they are but as we are.

You have to believe in the promise. God said I know the plans I have for you plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.

If you don’t believe in the word or the spirit what God said about you, then you will Never receive the promise.

Have faith believe in the promise

For example, You have to believe in the word, the gesture and the spirit that God will turn every weapon formed against you for your good.

Everything God is going to do for you is already set aside, but sometimes he takes you the long way. The Israelites wandered in the wilderness for 40 years, that was not the direct route. Just keep asking yourself, what is my purpose.

Just Go,  and he will show you the way.

Elijah prays for rain

In this passage in the bible. Elijah climbed to the top of Mount Carmel and bowed low to the ground and prayed with his face between his knees and prayed to God to end the 3.5-year drought. He kept praying until God showed him in the spirit that the rain was. So he didn’t stop praying until Ahab told him he saw a small cloud because God showed him in his spirit that he was going to send the rain, so Elijah kept praying until he was able to birth what God showed him in the spirit.

He kept looking for the rain. He had his expectors on because he knew the rain was coming. Seven times he sent his servant Ahad to look for rain.

Finally, the seventh time, his servant told him, “I saw a little rain cloud about the size of a man’s hand rising from the sea.”

Then Elijah shouted, “Hurry to Ahab and tell him, ‘Climb into your chariot and go back home. If you don’t hurry, the rain will stop you!’”

This is what faith looks like. Faith is expecting to see in the flesh what God showed you in the spirit

A small cloud was all the confirmation Elijah needed. He started preparing for the rain. God empowered him to run so he could beat the rain, so Elijah started running.

Running in the rain

As a child one of my favorite things to do was run in the rain. I always loved the rain. I was born in the rain.

Rain is a blessing. Life on earth could not happen without the rain. When you see the rain don’t run from it, run in it. Walk in it.

How about when you see the rain coming. Welcome the rain. don’t complain that rain is coming.

The pandemic brought with it the drought of many things. What are you praying for today? What are you trying to birth? What did God show you in your dreams that you are expecting to show up in the flesh?

  • Is it the droughts of loneliness
  • Is it a financial drought

God gives you strength to hold on until the rain comes

Elijah sounded the alarm that the rain was coming and soon the sky was black with clouds. A heavy wind brought a terrific rainstorm, and Ahab left quickly for Jezreel. Then the Lord gave special strength to Elijah. He tucked his cloak into his belt and ran ahead of Ahab’s chariot all the way to the entrance of Jezreel.

God will give you special strength to hold on until the rain comes.

Whatever you are lacking do not give up, do like Elijah put your head between your knees and pray until you see it manifest. Your drought will soon be over. The rain may not come today or tomorrow or even next year but keep looking and expecting it will come, it always does and one day you will run in the rain.

Key Takeaways:

  • Authenticity is about being true to yourself and not trying to be someone or something you're not. It's about embracing your individuality and expressing your true self without fear or judgment.

  • Impostor syndrome often stems from societal pressures and influences that make us feel like we're not enough. It's important to recognize when we're trying to be impostors and instead choose to be our authentic selves.

  • Being in tune with our feelings can help us identify when we're not being authentic. If something doesn't feel right or makes us uncomfortable, it's a sign that we may need to make a change and align with our true selves.

  • Authenticity is a journey, not a destination. It requires consistent self-reflection, self-discovery, and self-expression. It's about unbecoming everything that isn't truly you and embracing who you were meant to be.

  • Living authentically creates a space for true love, connection, and authenticity to flourish. It allows us to be closer to the people we love and creates new possibilities for growth and fulfillment.

Being Authentic in a World of Imposters

In a world that constantly bombards us with images of perfection and societal expectations, it can be challenging to stay true to ourselves. However, author Jamaal Wesley reminds us in his book, “Authentically Authentic: It's a Journey Not a Destination,” that embracing our authenticity is the key to living a fulfilling and meaningful life. Wesley emphasizes the importance of being true to ourselves and not succumbing to the pressures of conforming to societal norms or imitating others.

One of the main obstacles to authenticity is impostor syndrome. Wesley explains that impostor syndrome arises when we try to be someone we're not, whether it's at work, in relationships, or in social settings. We may feel the need to present a certain image or meet certain expectations, but deep down, we know that it's not who we truly are. This disconnect between our authentic selves and the personas we project can lead to feelings of inadequacy, anxiety, and a lack of fulfillment.

The Journey of Self-Discovery and Acceptance

Wesley's book serves as a guide for those seeking to embark on a journey of self-discovery and acceptance. He shares his own experiences and insights, encouraging readers to embrace their true selves without fear or judgment. Through heartfelt storytelling and practical advice, Wesley provides a roadmap for battling impostor syndrome and the challenges that arise on the path of self-expression and identity.

One of the key aspects of embracing authenticity is being in tune with our feelings. Wesley highlights the importance of paying attention to how we feel when we're about to exhibit impostorism. If we feel uncomfortable, out of place, or have a sinking feeling in our stomachs, it's a clear indication that we're not being true to ourselves. By acknowledging these feelings and being honest with ourselves, we can begin to make choices that align with our authentic selves.

Transform Your Mind Podcast Player FM
Transform Your Mind Podcast Player FM

Unbecoming to Become Authentic: Letting Go of Traumas and Conditioning

Wesley's book also delves into the concept of unbecoming everything that isn't truly us. From the moment we're born, we're born into a set of conversations and societal conditioning that may not align with our authentic selves. However, life experiences and traumas can further cover up our true identities, leading us to live inauthentically.

To truly embrace authenticity, Wesley encourages readers to let go of past traumas and conditioning. This process of unbecoming allows us to shed the layers that have been imposed upon us and rediscover who we truly are. By doing so, we create a space for true love, connection, and authenticity to flourish.

Embracing Authenticity in Relationships

Living authentically not only benefits ourselves but also has a profound impact on our relationships. When we show up as our authentic selves, we create a safe space for others to do the same. Wesley emphasizes that authenticity fosters deeper connections and allows for a new world of possibility to emerge.

In the realm of dating, authenticity is particularly crucial. Many people try to present themselves in a way they think will be attractive to others, but this often leads to disappointment and a lack of genuine connection. Wesley's book reminds us that the most attractive version of ourselves is when we are being our authentic selves. By embracing our true identities, we attract those who appreciate and love us for who we truly are.

Embrace Your Authenticity and Create an Amazing Tomorrow

In conclusion, embracing authenticity is a lifelong journey of self-discovery, acceptance, and growth. It requires us to be in tune with our feelings, let go of past traumas and conditioning, and make choices that align with our true selves. By living authentically, we not only find fulfillment and happiness within ourselves but also create deeper connections and a more authentic world.

As Jamaal Wesley beautifully puts it, “Discover who you are, discover who you want to be, and create an amazing tomorrow.” Embrace your authenticity and let your true self shine.

The Interplay of Vibrational Energy and Mental Health

Dr. Macklin emphasizes that everything in our existence resonates with vibrational energy. This energy is at the core of our being and influences our mental and emotional health. He suggests that low vibrational states can allow for the attachment of negative energetic entities, which can result in feelings of anxiety, depression, or even contribute to more severe mental health conditions.

“When your vibration drops… there are things called entities. They attach to you… they're low vibrational beings, but they also have a very powerful mind. They can send you negative thoughts.”

The suggestion is to transcend these low vibrations by focusing on positive thoughts, gratitude, and connecting with higher, more benevolent energies. By maintaining a higher state of vibration, individuals can not only improve their own well-being but also contribute positively to the collective consciousness.

Vibrational Protection and Healing Strategies

The conversation introduces the idea that specific prayers and spiritual affirmations can create a protective shield around an individual. For instance, the “27 Esoteric Merkaba Field Prayer” which Dr. Macklin mentions, is designed to safeguard one from lower vibrations and attachments by encasing them in a vibrational field. Additionally, the practical act of policing one's thoughts—converting negative into positive—is proposed as a daily practice to maintain emotional equilibrium.

“So once you've removed [negative entities], a very important thing is the power of prayer… If you do that three times a day, it will keep them out.”

Reimagining Mental Health Disorders Through a Spiritual Lens

Dr. Macklin offers a striking reinterpretation of various, mental health, disorders by associating them with vibrational and spiritual disturbances. For example, schizophrenia, often viewed from a purely clinical lens, is posited as a form of spiritual communication—if misguided. Realigning such communications from lower-frequency entities to higher angelic beings could potentially transform the condition into a positive experience.

“These [schizophrenic] people are very gifted… once you've taught them how to navigate it, they get off the pills. They do some amazing things.”

Gratitude as a Transformational Mental Health Tool

Dr. Macklin coins the importance of gratitude in altering one's life circumstances. He shares a narrative where acknowledging blessings, instead of focusing on a shortfall (a broken bed in this case), led to the unexpected manifestation of a new bed. It's a lesson in focusing on what one has, rather than what is lacking. The law of attraction, thus, becomes a vital cog in this perspective shift.

“I want you to thank God for the blessing of the food on table… She phoned the radio station four days late… ‘The charity came and they gave me a new bed out of the blue.'”

The Fluctuating Nature of Collective Consciousness

The mental health crisis, emphasized by the global pandemic, had profound effects on the collective consciousness. As individuals grapple with increased awareness of systemic issues, their emotional turmoil compounds the collective energetic field, leading to widespread impacts on societal mental health. Dr. Macklin prescribes focused spiritual practices, such as meditation and energy clearing prayers, to individually and collectively shepherd consciousness towards a healthier state.

“What's happened is that it's coming to the forefront now… we have a prayer to remove it, because us individual human beings, it's really not our job to transmute that collective consciousness.”

Unleashing the Power of Hunger

In today's competitive business landscape, one quality that can make a significant difference is hunger. Not the hunger for food, but the hunger for success and achievement.

As stated in Proverbs 16:26, “It is good for workers to have an appetite; an empty stomach drives them on.”

This hunger, this burning desire for success, can be the driving force that sets individuals apart and propels them to achieve what others may only dream of.

Les Brown, a renowned motivational speaker, famously said, “You've got to be hungry.” This hunger for success is what separates those who are willing to do what others won't. It is this hunger that pushes individuals to go above and beyond, to work harder, and to continuously strive for excellence. When hiring employees, it is essential to look for this hunger, as it can be a game-changer for your organization.

Unmatched Motivation

Hungry employees have an unmatched motivation that sets them apart from others. They are driven by an insatiable desire to prove themselves and make a mark. This motivation stems from their need to succeed, to provide for their families, and to fulfill their dreams. This hunger for success leads to increased productivity, innovation, and a relentless pursuit of excellence. Hungry individuals are willing to go the extra mile, to put in the extra effort, and to do whatever it takes to achieve their goals.

Adaptability and Resilience

Hungry individuals are more likely to embrace change and adapt to evolving circumstances. Their hunger for success propels them to seek out new skills and knowledge, making them valuable assets in the dynamic work environment. They are not afraid to step out of their comfort zones and take on new challenges. This adaptability allows them to thrive in an ever-changing world and seize opportunities that others might overlook.

Furthermore, hungry employees exhibit resilience in the face of challenges. Their determination to succeed fuels their ability to overcome obstacles and turn setbacks into opportunities for growth. They understand that success requires perseverance and that they cannot let little things like rude comments or setbacks derail their goals. Hungry people operate from their hearts with unshakeable faith, allowing them to stay focused on their dreams and overcome any obstacles that come their way.

Hunger allows for Initiative and Innovation

Hungry workers are proactive and take initiative without waiting for instruction. Their self-motivation and drive lead to increased efficiency and the ability to seize opportunities that others might overlook. When you're hungry, you must create opportunities where others do not see them. The hunger in your belly enables vision and allows you to think outside the box.

The hunger for success often goes hand in hand with a creative mindset. Hungry employees are more likely to think outside the box, bringing fresh ideas and innovative solutions to the table. Their hunger pushes them to constantly seek improvement and find new ways to do things better. This hunger for innovation can drive your organization to stay ahead of the curve and remain competitive in a rapidly changing world.

Hungry employees are always seeking ways to improve and grow, pushing themselves to reach new heights.

Furthermore, hungry individuals have a passion for learning. They are avid learners, always looking to acquire new skills and knowledge. This passion for learning not only benefits their personal development but also contributes to the overall growth and success of your organization. Hungry employees bring a wealth of knowledge and expertise to the table, constantly pushing themselves and their teammates to learn and grow.

Team Collaboration

The hunger for success often translates into a collaborative spirit. Hungry employees are more likely to work seamlessly with others, leveraging their collective skills and experience to achieve the common goals of your organization. Hungry individuals are willing to share their knowledge, support their teammates, and go above and beyond to ensure the success of the entire team.

How to Find the Right Group if you are an Introvert

Myrna – When you decided that because you were an, introvert, you were  going to change your circle of friends because the friends  you were hanging around with were not conducive to you in becoming a social person. How did you find the right group?

Okay, I don't want people to think that I just completely abandoned everyone I knew or say I’m not talking to my old friends,  I still kept in touch with everybody; but I tried to shift my focus more towards people that I thought would be of help to my course to become a networking, introvert.

I looked for groups of people that I thought would be good to be around them. I would find that they have to meetup groups. I would go to these meet up groups and introduce myself to some people. Everybody takes a little time to be comfortable around people, just like relationships they take a little time to build; but it starts off by you initially showing up and just being around and people starting to recognize you.

Myrna – I used to go sit in expensive hotel lobbies for a different reason, not for, networking,  but that is a good way to, network, with the rich.  I did it to get comfortable with wealth.  You were doing it to build a network with influential people, which is good too.

What inspired you to write the book An Introverts Guide ?

After I figured out how to, network, as an, introvert, by the way  I am still an, introvert. I still like to spend a lot of time alone. I recharge myself; but then when I do network, I want to go out and be seen and be heard. I'm able to do that; but once I learned how to do this then, I was often invited to do some speaking about it.  I would go to speaking events and  people would ask me  where can we get your book, and I would say I don't have a book!  I told myself, should probably write  a book.

I realized there's a lot of, introverts,  who would get a lot out of a book about how to network as an, introvert, so I sat down and starting writing a book. I knew exactly what I wanted to say.  I wanted to help, introverts, who were in similar situations be able to have the steps that they needed to upgrade their lifestyles and really enhance their experience, networking.

I think everything in life comes down to your connections and your relationships and if you can have better connected relationships, it makes the life of the, introvert, so much richer.  You don’t  even have to be, networking, with  billionaires on yachts; it can just be with your own family and close friends or people in the community.

Myrna – One of the questions that popped into my mind as you were talking about speaking and meet-up groups was, did you join toastmasters?

I did go to toastmasters because everybody says,  you have to go to toastmasters.  I went to toastmasters but; I didn’t really like toastmasters.  Everybody said to me what are you talking about, you have to like toastmasters,  everybody likes toastmasters;  but I don't know it didn't do it for me.

I know a lot of people say well if you're shy and, introverted, and socially awkward;  how can you do public speaking?  I think I have some kind of weird defect in my brain that allows me to think whenever I do public speaking, I go into a dreamlike trance.  We can do anything in our dreams, you're not a body.

If you just say go talk to those four people over there then I become an, introvert;  but if you say there's a hundred people go talk to them that's fine, I become an, extrovert.

Myrna – You're kidding that that's weird wiring;  but you know it's not that I haven't heard it before.   It is probably a good time to have a definition of an, introvert, and how that is different from, extrovert. How does someone know if they're an, extrovert, or, introvert?  We can figure out that if you are shy you may be an, introvert but I am sure there is more.

Define an introvert and the different levels

There are some people that are more, introverted, than others and there's different categories.  I'd say generally you are an, introvert, if you get drained by being out and interacting with people and have to recharge by being yourself.

I fit that category, that's the classic, introvert. You can also be shy and that doesn't necessarily make you an, introvert.  I suffered from being shy and being drained by being around people plus the social awkwardness.  I did’t know what to do and how to even interact with people,  so there's different combinations of, introversion,  and there's different levels.

One of my closest friends who has had great success with some of the techniques I teach in my book, always makes fun of me; because he always tries to compare himself saying, I'm way more, introverted, than you.  I tell him this isn't a competition.

I say that to say there's different levels for the, introvert; so there's different things that different obstacles that, introverts, have to deal with.  An obstacle for me might not be an obstacle for my friend.  I mentioned the different types of, introverts, the steps in my book is able to help the whole spectrum of, introverts.

Everything is for everybody; but I say at the beginning of the book pick out the parts that apply to you that you can use and then what's not helpful right now just file it away and then maybe later once you hit a certain level maybe that's going to come in handy at a later time.

How can your Book Help Introverts

Myrna– Your book is called “An introvert's guide to world domination: become a high level networking and upgrade your life.”  So what can someone walk away with after reading your book?  What are the skills that you want transferred?

I love that question that was really good,

  1. They are going to be able to know what their obstacles are.
  2. What their blocks are
  3. Identify those blocks so then they can get those out of the way
  4. Then they're going to be able to find social events that appeal to them that can help them achieve whatever goals they desire.

What are the networking steps covered in your book?

We find out what sort of networking, introverts, should you be doing; so we cover the personal, networking, and then I  also teach about, networking, in the  workplace and at social events.  Depending on what your goal is, you'll have clear steps on what to do in your personal social life, in the workplace and in, networking, events  to level up in all of those areas.

You'll know exactly what to do and say if you go to  the company holiday party or if you're just going to hang out, or you take your kid to soccer practice and there's going to be a bunch of parents there.

  • You'll know exactly what you need to do to be interesting and interested and engage in conversation
  • How to have good body language and appear confident, calm and approachable.
  • Show good energy, so you'll be able to also maintain your relationship
  • Know where to go, what to do, when you get there who to talk to
  • What to say and how to talk to people once you've established a relationship
  • How to maintain those relationships; because why build all these relationships if you're not going to maintain them.

Introverts, will have this whole spectrum of, networking, obstacles; so all they have to do is just work the steps.  I break it down really easy; I put little things in there to make sure that, introverts,  keep pushing forward. introverts,  will be able to go out and put these steps into practice immediately, the very first day even before they finish the book.

What is the definition of a social introvert?

A social, introvert, is somebody who doesn't like talking to people and is uncomfortable in social situations.  That was my biggest challenge as an, introvert, and that's why I concentrated my book on, networking; even though I think that there are some other areas being an, introvert, would have challenges with.

So there are social, introverts, who aren't really good around people and they don't want to be, they want to have nothing to do with, networking, so they'd just rather maybe stay in the science lab or stay in the basement playing video games. This book is not for this type, these steps are for the, introvert,  who says, hey I would like to be able to do that, I just don't know how.

Helping Introverts Lead Regular Lives

I want to help, introverts,  feel more confident just day to day in their regular life.  Just  going to the grocery store or if you live in an apartment building and your neighbors are out on their balcony and you think well I can’t go out on my balcony; because they're there maybe I should wait until they go inside.

Or when it comes to your work place or when it comes to just any relationships, introverts, have an understanding of what being an, introvert, is really costing them.  It's costing them much more than you can possibly imagine, and it's all these little micro instances of hiding.  If, introverts, can just take that little extra step to not hide,  it can completely change their life and lifestyle.

Myrna – I can imagine that an, introvert, is somebody who is a pleaser, because they don't want to make a fuss right, they don't want confrontation, they don't want to challenge whatsoever.

Is the pandemic good or bad for the introvert?

All the, networking, in person situations are no longer an issue and we're like talking on zoom and we're in our bedroom and in our house and we don't have to go out; so is an, introvert’s, heaven.  The pandemic is this helping them stay hidden we, introverts,  think this is the best time to be alive ever in the history!  It gives the, introvert, the excuse to say,  hey I would love to be out socializing and hobnobbing with everybody; but I'm locked down.

What can introverts do to make the most of this pandemic situation?

One of the things the, introvert, can do during the pandemic is to strengthen the relationships you already have.  COVID  gives you a perfect excuse to go through your work email and your personal email of all your contacts and see who you haven't touched base within say three months.  Make a list of those people and then every day just contact a few and just say, hey how are you doing during COVID?

MyrnaI'm going to borrow that to touch base with my real estate clients and just keep up the, networking, because a great strategy for realtors whether they are, introverts, or not to keep, networking, during the pandemic.

How to build your network as an Introvert

If you want to become a high-level networker, or upgrade your life both, introverts, and, extroverts, can be a high-level networker.  I've had a lot of students who are realtors and they are not, introverts, but they just wanted an edge over their competition and so they used some of these techniques,

Are All Sociopaths Predators? The Jeffrey Epstein Story

Sociopaths have no ability whatsoever to feel shame, guilt, or remorse. One in twenty-five Americans, are secretly, sociopaths and so we have Jeffrey Epstein.

There are some subjects that fascinate me and one of them are, sociopaths.

This fascination began when I read the book the “Psychopath Next Door.”

This story was about a man who selected this woman because of her vulnerability.

Sociopaths, always chose their victims.

He actually knocked on her door one day and began a friendship with her, then he got her to move away from her friends and family to this remote house in England.

Sociopaths,  always want to get you away from your friends and family because friends and family strengthen us. Jeffrey Epstein, had his island in the Virgin Islands

The definition of a Sociopath

This house in England was a beautiful large Victorian home. This man let’s call him Jim told this that  he inherited this property and had her suggest that they modernize the house with her money.

Later in the story after she had escaped with her life, she found out that the property was rented, it was a con to get her money.

Sociopaths, are liars.

Then Jim started abusing her, verbally and emotionally, then physically. He told her if she ever left him he would kill her. Every time she attempted to leave, he would find her and punish her. Finally in desperation she walked for miles in the freezing cold one night to someone's home and hid there.

Sociopaths, keep you in control with abuse. Remember the Robert R Kelly documentary? All the women said that he controlled them with physical abuse and punishment like starvation when they disobeyed his orders. Like going to the bathroom without getting permission

Like I said, this story imprinted on my mind and since then I have been able to spot, sociopaths. Almost all of them are good looking and charming and they use this asset to reel in their victims.

Jeffrey Epstein, was also good looking and charming and was able to charm his way into getting jobs as a teacher and securities broker without having any of the necessary paperwork, because he dropped out of college.

Sociopaths vs Phychopaths

As a, sexual predator, they use this good looking charm to make women fall for them and after they get them emotionally tied, they switch from charming to becoming a monster.

Sociopaths, are also narcissistic. They can feel no emotions so they do unconscionable things without batting an eyelid.

Jeffrey Epstein, sexually abused hundreds of children for decades by luring them with $200. He knew that to a 14 year old $200 was a lot of money. If he ordered a call girl or prostitute the price for a massage and sex would be $2000 not $200; but then of course they wouldn't turn him on. Only young girls turned him on.

What is the difference between, sociopaths vs psychopaths? Sociopaths and psychopaths  are usually dishonest. In my story Jim swindled over a $100,000 from his victim to modernize a house that he didn't own.

Jeffrey Epstein, was also a thief. He stole $46 M from one of his employers and was fired from another for stealing.

So to answer the question are all,  sociopaths, predators? I would say yes,  Sociopaths,  are always looking for their next victim. They may not be ALL in like, Jeffrey Epstein, and, Robert R Kelly; but they are, sexual  predators, who charm women, men and children out of whatever their prize is. There are, sociopaths, scamming old people out of their last dollar and have no remorse that these seniors have no funds left to live out their lives

The Sociopath next door

We are accustomed to think of, sociopaths, as violent criminals, but in The Sociopath Next Door, Harvard psychologist Martha Stout reveals that a shocking 4 percent of ordinary people—one in twenty-five—has an often undetected mental disorder, the chief symptom of which is that that person possesses no conscience. He or she has no ability whatsoever to feel shame, guilt, or remorse. One in twenty-five everyday Americans, therefore, is secretly a, sociopath. They could be your colleague, your neighbor, even family. And they can do literally anything at all and feel absolutely no guilt.

How do we recognize the remorseless? One of their chief characteristics is a kind of glow or charisma that makes, sociopaths, more charming or interesting than the other people around them. They’re more spontaneous, more intense, more complex, or even sexier than everyone else, making them tricky to identify and leaving us easily seduced. Fundamentally, sociopaths, are different because they cannot love. Sociopaths, learn early on to show sham emotion, but underneath they are indifferent to others’ suffering. They live to dominate and thrill to win.

The fact is, we all almost certainly know at least one or more, sociopaths already. Part of the urgency in reading The Sociopath Next Door is the moment when we suddenly recognize that someone we know—someone we worked for, or were involved with, or voted for—is a, sociopath. But what do we do with that knowledge? To arm us against the sociopath, Dr. Stout teaches us to question authority, suspect flattery, and beware the pity play. Above all, she writes, when a sociopath, is beckoning, do not join the game.

What is the difference between a, Sociopath, and a Psychopath?

I don't use either term, you're speaking about an, antisocial personality disorder.   Several people in our lifetime like Jeffrey Dahmer's and other individuals like, Jeffrey Epstein,  can be diagnosed with, antisocial personality disorder.  The reason why I use that term,  a psychological perspective and diagnostic criteria is attached to that term.

There are seven diagnostic criteria that we would use in order to diagnose someone exhibiting, sociopath, behavior:

  • One there's a pervasive pattern as well as a disregard for and violation of the rights of others. This behavior starts occurring usually at the age of 15 years old.
  • Failure to conform to social norms with respect to lawful behaviors as indicated by repeatedly performing acts that are grounds for arrest, as we saw with both, Jeffrey Epstein, and Robert R Kelly.
  • Deceitfulness very much so. Very easy for, sociopaths, to be deceitful.  Jeffrey Epstein scammed  a gentleman that he worked for out of millions of dollars.  He taught in a  school without the proper credentials.  He said he  went to certain schools and never attended the schools.
  • Repeated lying, some of these men even use aliases.  They scam others for their own profit.  Their personal profit and pleasure.
  • Impulsivity or failure to plan ahead.
  • Irritability and aggressiveness as indicated by repeated fights or assaults
  • Reckless regard for safety of self and others. Consistent irresponsibility as indicated by repeated failure to sustain consistent work, behavior or honor financial obligations.
  • Lack of remorse, indicated by being indifferent and to or rationalizing having hurt mistreated or stolen from another individual.

Are Sociopaths Narcissists?

Sociopaths are narcissists because they have no conscience, the barometer to tell you when you are doing wrong. I can imagine it may be a struggle for some, sociopaths,  so that's when they become, sexual predators. The sexual part of it with the, sexual predators,  become hard to control. It becomes an addiction.

I was actually very surprised when, Jeffrey Epstein,  did go to prison the first time for 18 months and he got himself out on a work permit, that he was still continued bringing women in to his office to have sex. The same behavior he was in prison for, he continued doing!

Ted Bundy did the same thing.  They incarcerated him and he escaped twice and continued the same behavior.  He continued the same exact behavior with those women, killing and murdering and having sexual encounters with them.

That's part of the impulsive label.  I personally think that the reason, Jeffrey Epstein, did not stop or had no remorse is because he was wealthy. He didn't care about these women, he just cared about himself and his sexual desires. They called him, sociopath narcissist, you can call it, antisocial personality disorder,  all these different labels; but he knew what he was doing was wrong and he thought that he could buy his way out, and he did for quiet some time.

I was quite impressed that the first time, Jeffrey Epstein, was on trial, he had eight lawyers,  a team of eight lawyers! I am sure that cost him millions; but Robert R Kelly was poor.  I mean he couldn't even afford a proper lawyer so he's still in prison.

How are sexual predators created?

What is the, test for a, sociopath? Well that's a good intro to the, sociopaths vs Psychopaths,  and your  definition of,  anti-social Personality disorder.  How does that lead them to become, sexual predators?

I'm not just talking about, sexual predators, but the , sociopath narcissistic, piece where they have no conscience don't care about their victims, just into your fulfilling of their desires.  You mentioned Jeffrey Dahmer and you talked about Ted Bundy.  I'm assuming that you put them in this in this conversation, because they've also been diagnosed with, antisocial personality disorder, commonly called, sociopath.

These are mental health issues probably passed on from parents and grandparents. Some, sociopaths, develop after being abused as children.  Robert R Kelly was raped as a child by his aunt.

How would the women look for, sociopaths, out to take advantage of them?

  • Firstly, they don't want to trust. You want to be more cognizant of who you're trusting.
  • We want to be aware of someone asking you about your life in terms of your financial abilities.
  • You want to be more cognizant to the fact of strange men visiting your home.  Limit the frequency that they visit or stay in your home.  Visit their dwelling to see where they live.
  • See what their lifestyle is.  Talk to their family members don't even allow them to come to your home for at least 90 days after you meet them.

How a sexual predator chooses his victims.

The, sociopath,  or the person with, antisocial personality disorder, always chooses their victims.

The documentary said that, Jeffrey Epstein, had the ability to read his victims  and offer whatever they wanted.

I have worked with families who had children that have been sexually assaulted.  In my first intake, my first conversation with the parents, I say to the parents that their child has the 50% likelihood of being sexually assaulted again because pedophiles tend to know. They can read them. They can either pick up on the fear or the vulnerability.

They choose their victims, Robert R Kelly looked for the women with weak minds. Jeffrey Epstein, looked for girls with no parental influence, were poor or needy.

Young females have to be vigilant because people will try to manipulate them and do things to them to get them to perform sex acts.  Someone gave, Jeffrey Epstein, three twelve-year-old girls as a birthday present.  You saw some of the images of some noted men today some powerful men including Prince Andrew who hung out with, Jeffrey Epstein, they partook of these young girls.  Some of them had daughters of that same age. So mothers look out for your daughters.

I tell parents it's okay to be quote-unquote a helicopter parent.  It's okay to not let your kids spend the night over someone's house. It's okay to be a hands-on face-to-face with your kid till they are at least 18 going into college.

If you value your child's life and you do not want your child to be fractured into pieces as a result of this trauma from a, psychopath, be vigilant.  I work in the education field right now and there are people that will become educators or social workers on campuses or they'll work with the children because they know they have access to be with them alone with children.
